Below students can find information about the media center's circulation policies. There is also a link to aid students in learning about the Dewey Decimal System.
Circulation Policies
Checking in and checking out a book
- Students may check out a maximum of 3 materials per library visit if all prior books have been returned.
- Students with overdue books or fines may not check out materials until their debts are cleared.
Books, Audio Books, and eBooks
- Students may check out books, audio books, and ebooks for 2 weeks and renewed once, unless there is a hold.
Magazines
- Students are not allowed to check out current magazines. They are for use in the library and are not circulated.
- Students may check out back issues of magazines for a period of one week.
Reference
- Reference materials with a blue call number label are for library use and may not be checked out by students.
- Reference materials with a green call number label may be checked out overnight and must be returned the next day.
Videos/DVDs
- Videos and DVDs cannot be checked out by students.
- Videos/DVDs are purchased for instructional purposes and may not be checked out until the lesson using the video has been taught.
CDs
- CDs may be checked out for a period of one week by students.
- There is a limit of two CDs per student.
Equipment
- Students are not allowed to check out library equipment for personal use.
Renewing a checked out material
- To renew a material, go to the circulation desk and request a renewal.
- Materials should be renewed before they are overdue.
- Renews are limited, and if someone has placed a hold on the material, it cannot be renewed.
Placing a hold on a material
- If a material is checked out, you can place a hold on it, so it can't be renewed or checked out to someone else.
- To place a hold on an item, go to the circulation and make your request.
- The Media Specialist then will go in to the computer and place the hold for the requested material.
